Control
What’s in my control?
Walking into a session there are so many things that’s in my control and my experience, skill and professionalism of my craft as a photographer has aided to quick understanding of what I can and can not do. Of course we all wish for the perfect scenario, but what is the perfect scenario? I’ve come to embrace the not so perfect location, kids not wanting to participate, even adults who dread their photo taken, but doing it for their spouse/ partner. That’s the fun part of my job, really, it is. Besides being creative and seeing how far they will go with me, I love channeling someone or (sometimes a family pet) their reluctant energy into playing along with me for just a bit. I meet that person where they are at and make them trust me, perhaps even like me enough to take their photo. It’s a connection that I want more than a perfect smile in the perfect location - I want them to be seen as they are. Everything else is not in my control, so I let it be. Happy New Year - to moving forward this year with clarity, love, peace and play.
